Maeghan Maloney As District Attorney Would Have Avoided Occupy Issues.

Whether or not you agree with the Occupy movement, it is a colossal waste of time for the courts to spend a day prosecuting them and then reverse everything.  How many thousands of dollars were wasted?  How many other cases were postponed?

Here in Maine we are facing tremendous budget shortages, and needing to make serious cuts in essential services.  But the District Attorney’s office has not even advanced to the point of using email to document whether or not political protesters should appear in court.  Then, rather than calling them -which would require cell phones– the court spent its day generating arrest warrants.  Oh, and then reversing the warrants at the end of the day when it became clear the whole thing was a misunderstanding.

In most cases, we just throw up our hands and shrug.  Not in this case.  My dear wife, Maeghan Maloney, has decided to dedicate her time and energy to helping the courts become more efficient.  She has the goal of helping Maine’s veterans through a Veteran’s Court bill she has helped shepherd through the legislature.  She also joins Governor LePage in promising to aggressively prosecute domestic violence cases and to expand the options for dealing with cases.

Public service today is a thankless task.  We all tend to point at what doesn’t work without trying to walk the difficult road to finding solutions.  But we need to all chip in and help when we can.  Here is where we as a family can help make our state and community a better place to live.

Obviously, I’m a bit biased toward Maeghan, who happens to be one of the most spectacular, brilliant, dedicated, and passionate people I know.  She is also beautiful in every way.  But make up your own mind about supporting her (she needs people to help her, every step of the way).

Her website is now www.maloneyforda.com.

Please call her, email her, or meet her.  She personifies what is hopeful about the Maine political process.  In our spirited political discussions, she listens, acknowledges, and incorporates the best of the ideas presented regardless of the ideologies of the person speaking.
