Voting With Their Feet: Three Out of Every Four Healthcare Workers Approve of Alternative Medicine

7-4. Complementary & Alternative Medicines

In a surprising survey, three out of four healthcare workers use alternative medicine.  When you exclude when diets, vitamins, minerals, and/or herbal supplements, healthcare workers are still more likely than their patients to have used alternative medicine.

The use of a practice or treatment is the strongest form of recommendation.  “Western culture has believed that complementary services and techniques aren’t as well-researched and evidence-based as conventional medicine,” noted (study author) Knutson. “But that is certainly no longer the case.”

So now all we need to do is wait for the insurance companies to catch up with consumer demand and healthcare worker approval.
