Living Every Minute of Your Life: Rachel Naomi Remen

I put up Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen’s book some time ago on Natural Treatment Therapies, but watching her makes me wish we had more like her.  Kitchen Table Wisdom is a good book.

The primary difficulty we have in society today is a lack of time.  Supposedly we have more leisure time than ever before, but that equates to time that we need to be interacting with everything around us.  I find that the emergency cell phone I keep in my jacket (family emergencies only) rings more often.  It isn’t that my children are ill, they’ve forgotten a book at home.  All of our small crises become big crises.  If we have no current terrible thing happening in our own lives, we can borrow someone else’s.  Or we can take a day off our social network of choice and offend our friends who expect instant satisfaction.

Let’s slow down.
