Myofascial release is a relatively gentle technique you can use to some extent by yourself to undo some of the tension (and therefore the pain) of repetitive stain injury.  To get a great deal of information about carpal tunnel and repetitive strain injury, I would look at Dr. Pascarelli’s book.
